A unique company making premium chocolate using Hokkaido cream. Home grown in Sapporo, it is now marketed globally.

A signature product is Nama Chocolate -- a soft fresh chocolate made with Hokkaido cream. (Nama refers to fresh, raw, or uncooked in Japanese.) Nama chocolate has a short shelf-life, and cannot tolerate high temperatures. Like some early Godiva chocolates, it is displayed refrigerated, and you can buy it cold packed for a small extra charge.
The name Royce' seems to be derived from English (although I've not seen an exact explanation). It is not pronounced as in Rolls Royce, hence the accent mark. In Japanese, the company name is 株式会社ロイズコンフェクト or Kabushikigaisha Roizukonfekuto, so Royce' is pronounced Roizu. Interestingly, Google Translate returns: Lloyd's Confection Co., Ltd., which seems phonetically correct.
Royce' Chocolate World is a large space in New Chitose Airport.
It is the first chocolate factory and museum located inside of an airport in Japan. The fun and vibrant gift shop offers a wide range of items that you can't get anywhere else! Look for 200 varieties of very original products.
It sits between the international and domestic terminals along with Hello Kitty Happy Flight and Doraemon Wakuwaku Sky Park. 🙂
Well worth sampling some Royce' when in Japan, and especially when in Hokkaido.
