Some thoughts on travel in Japan.

Post Japan blues

I've been to Japan a few times, and I always feel the same thing afterwards. Suddenly the food in US doesn't taste that good anymore.

I ate like crazy in Japan. Maybe 4-5 meals per day, not including snacks and other stuff, but I also walked a lot. I weighed myself this morning and found out that my weight stayed the same. I was expecting to gain 5 lbs at least.

Seriously though, if you like to travel, you need to put Japan on your list. Even after multiple visits and transits, I still find new things to see and discover. And if you like to eat, you come to the right place. It's really hard to find bad food in Japan. Everything feels fresh and delicious.

I love the train rides as well. The bento box below was actually sold during the train rides. If you're spending at least a week in Japan, make sure to get a JR Pass, only available for foreigners. You'll be able to get unlimited train rides across Japan at a price that will make Japanese very envious.

I spent close to 20 hours for train rides between Tokyo and Sapporo, and enjoyed every moment of it. There's something about just sitting on the train, listening to music and stare at the scenery outside. It beats flying for sure (and I love flying).

In any case, if any of you are thinking of visiting Japan, feel free to ask me and I'll answer to the best of my ability. I won't have much knowledge regarding local stuff, but I can definitely help for tips regarding your preparations as a tourist.
