Royal Express to Izu

Royal Express to Izu
The Izu peninsula is a beautiful part of Japan at the southern end of the region that includes Mt. Fuji, Hakone and the Lakes region, south to Atami, the Izu peninsula and Shimoda. Much of it is incorporated in the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Much of it is wilderness, although there is well established rail and bus transportation in the Hakone area that makes that region accessible and visitor friendly. The Izu peninsula on the other hand has always been difficult to get to and around in, with the best access by automobile.

With this special Royal Express train to Shimoda, perhaps the overall access and facilities will improve. While isolation may protect tradition and charm, a bit of comfort and easy travel can also be a good thing.

Anyone been to Izu, or on a luxury train?
Maybe something to try sometime?
