Being There

Being There
A high-quality long video of an Awa-odori festival in the streets of Shimokitazawa. Kitazawa is in Setagaya not too far from Shibuya in Tokyo.
A good feel of sights and sounds of neighborhood streets, and some up close looks at some Awa-odori groups.
This captures some of what I enjoy most about just being there in Japan.

Actually I was planning Shinjuku walk but found news about Shimokitazawa Awa-odori event. Spend some time in the beginning looking around and for festival location.
I like Awa-Odori in Shimokitazawa more than in Koenji. Koenji even is very regulated with noisy policemen and fences, dancers are too serious. Shimo-kitazawa is nice for it's small streets, dancers are in front of you and very relaxed, you can even dance with everyone,
