All Aboard
There we were sitting at the Starbucks at Nagano Eki (there's a Tully's on 2F but that section wasn't open yet) waiting for our train and watching morning travelers starting their day's journey.
A large group of uniformed probably high school students in orderly columns was standing at ease apart from the actual bus stops. All female, some reading, little talk, no horseplay, and very few faculty also standing at ease. They seemed to be headed to the bus stop that goes north towards Zenkoji Temple.
As buses arrived at the stop, they peeled off in line in numbers just enough to fill the available seats while allowing individual riders access as well. Took 2 or 3 buses to accommodate all of them. Calm, quiet, efficient, without visible directives or disruption.
An impressive display of courtesy and orderly cooperation.
