Hassha Merodii

Hassha Merodii
Hassha melodies are short bits of music unique to rail platforms. They are customized to the specific station setting and give the traveler audible information about train door closing and departure in a calming way. A small but important part of a well run and very busy transportation system.

I don't know if it serves as a hassha merodii or is a separate station call, but the audio message at Matsumoto Station was striking to my ears in its simplicity and appeal. A pleasantly musical and uplifting woman's voice announces "Matsumotooou Matsumotooou Matsumotooou". Perfect.

  1. An interesting story is that the hassha merodii of all the stations along the Metro Tozai Line combine to make one song.
