Matsumoto Castle
A National Treasure of Japan, Matsumoto Castle is one of the premier original construction castles. It is sometimes referred to as the Crow Castle due to its black color.
The castle is open to guided and self-guided visits and is well worth exploring.

I saw a feature on NHK highlighting the castle which said that 80% of the support timbers were part of the original construction. The local townspeople volunteer to polish the floors. Definitely worth visiting.
