Hokkaido Is Different
A first glimpse just passing through the small JR Hakodate Hokuto station gives a different look and feel from the familiar Japan to the south.
From open countryside, to car rental dealers, to escalators that don't run if no one is there, to fewer people and slower pace, to unusual creatures on the mailbox, to kani korroke served by a nice lady in the snack shop, to a rock star sculpture with a Nippon Ham Fighter jersey on display, to a non-7 Bank / non-Japan Post international ATM, to unusual looking trains.
Different.
And I like it.
