New Chitose Flights
New Chitose, not far from Sapporo, is a nice airport to fly in and out of Hokkaido from.
Many international airlines fly there, including Hawaiian.
We flew from Sapporo to Tokyo on SkyMark airlines -- kind of a midrange carrier. There are low cost airlines like Vanilla Air or Air Do, but they are more no frills and they fly into Narita. SkyMark flies to Haneda, and although a little tricky, booking online worked OK and our trip went smoothly.
Of course, JAL and ANA also fly there and they may be more familiar to use, but they do cost more.
(I included the Recaro image just because I thought it was cool that the seats were branded with that name associated with high tech auto racing seats.)
